Hello!
My name is Kristin Call. I’m a twenty-something from Arizona, now living in Utah, (and hopefully heading to Iowa next year), who has WAY too many hobbies. As it turns out, a few of the girls at my church keep asking me how to do a bunch of the different things that I do. A little teaser post on freezer cooking made it pretty clear that the girls at church weren’t the only ones who were interested! So, while my life seems like it’s spinning out of control most of the time because I love doing as much as I possibly can, I really wouldn’t live it any other way. What good is a talent unless its shared? I’m a trial and error kind of learner, so you’re sure to see some flops right along with the successes! So without further ado, here are my current hobbies.
1. Digital Scrapbook Design – I currently design for 2 stores: Misses Bee Haven and Groovy Scraps. I love scrapping my own pages, and making my own products. It’s a rush to see other people using your stuff! I love designing and love that it’s a way for me to someday be a stay-at-home mom to the little kiddos we don’t have yet.
2. OAMC or Freezer Cooking – I stumbled on this idea a few months ago and I am hooked! I decided to jump right in and go for 30 meals in one shot. I was exhausted after it all, but I’ve since figured out how to plan my big cooking day better and convert more recipes into freezable ones.
3. Home Decor – I love bargain shopping and finding amazing deals! I dreamt of making my own home since I was a little girl and it’s better than I ever imagined. Being able to create a beautiful place for your family without breaking the bank is a great feeling! I love making it ours. Adding our personalities together and using our hands to literally make our home makes a place of safety, love, and belonging. I hope our kids can feel it too.
4. Couponing – This is a new one. I started couponing about a month ago. Hoo-ee we’ve already paid for both newspaper subscriptions and then some. Free stuff is a blast. I really think Christmas won’t be such a hit to the wallet anymore! Like Melissa Zuber said, “Isn’t it such a rush?! It’s like I’m stealing but I’m not.” [too true!]
5. Being Married – Do you realize how absolutely sweet marriage can be? Our honeymoon phase ended before we even got back. [ha!] We got off the cruise ship only to find out we’d been robbed. Our car full of wedding presents was almost empty. Thankfully, this set the tone for our entire marriage. C started laughing his head off. Making an amazing marriage is an outlook. I love finding new, fun, cheap ways to express my feelings for him. [C tends to do the same. I'm a lucky, lucky girl!]
6. Being Married to a Future Chiropractor – We attended a dinner for Palmer College of Chiropractic, where C hopes to attend in a little over a year, and the speaker mentioned how much the people of the community watch you. When you’re telling all your patients to live a healthy lifestyle and you don’t practice what you preach, the integrity of your practice is worth, oh, nothing. So, we’re at the start of a wonderful journey to better overall health.
7. Digital Scrapbooking – I love scrapping our lives too. It’s part of the legacy I want to leave for our kids. I want them to know what C + K was really like before they came along. I want them to know about where we lived, what we ate, what dates we went on, etc. That’s a lot of recording! And digital scrapbooking is the cheapest and fastest way I can think of to get it all done. :)
8. Quilting [& Other Various Sewing projects, which probably falls under Home Decor anyway] – I’ve currently got 1.5 quilt tops done, 0 quilts actually finished, and an entire bolt of batting on its way up to our apartment next month. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll actually be able to finish one!
I also love blogging, talking to my mom & sisters, planning activities for the girls at church, and am 78% of the way through my favorite Sudoku Book [The Sudoku Code]. Life is a little crazy, but AMAZING at the same time. If you made it this far, congrats!
Thanks for stopping by!
Kristin
